Recently I got fired from my job. I was working at a bank call center, trying to push people to sign up for credit cards that they didn't need and get them to refinance on loans that really would end up making them have bills longer. I hated that job. I got fired because I didn't makes sales. I did learn a lot about how a banking and loans work though, which is great information to have, and a LOT of people need it. I can't tell you how stupid people are when it comes to money. Insiders tip, when you are overdrawn, admit that you made a mistake instead of screaming like an asshole and try to listen to what that person is saying. The banker will be more inclined to give you a refund on fees and you might actually learn something. Trust me it's better to learn what you did than to keep making the same mistake over and over. It'll save you tons of money too. So I have been in search for a job, which is not easy with the way things are in the economy. I'm confident that I'll get something soon. I have a really good work history. It's kind of fun being unemployed, except for the no money part. I get up when I want, I can see all my shows, I have time to do all the little projects I didn't have time to like organize my music collection or read a book. However that all slowly starts to fade. You realize that you have no money to do anything and you avoid going out as much as possible. You basically become a shut in and after a while you get really bored and stir crazy. I'm at that point right now. I'm sick of being home, I miss my friends, and buying stuff, and going to the bar. Ugh I need a job soon. Finger crossed.
A few good things do come from being unemployed though. I reconnected with an old high school buddy recently. The last time I saw him was in a Denny's and I was really wasted. Then I moved to G.R. and he moved and I didn't talk to him again for 5 years. I forgot how awesome that dude is. I grew up with him from 1st grade through high school. He's a bit weird but he's one of the greatest guys I ever met. I started remembering all the times we had growing up. It was fun reminiscing with him. I'm glad we got back in touch too because he's a geek like me. Big into comics and movies and video games. My best friend moved to Virgina so I don't have that geek comradeship anymore, until now.

It was always hot, the perfect night to go deaf and perspire. Roll down the windows and get out of this small town. We want to go to the big city tonight, where the traffic never stops and the vagrants beg for spare change. Of course we never ventured out that far, this wasn't the best side of town. We pay our fees and then head outside for cigarettes and bullshitting. Sometimes it was nice just to sit and watch the passing cars reflecting in the lamp post lights. Other times you feared for your life before remembering that there were others around you that could help. From outside you could hear the chug chug and the kick drum. You knew you had a few minutes still, but you didn't have time to fuck around either. Walk in the door and go down the creepy stone steps lit by strands of christmas lights. Yup it smells like an old basement, musty and sweaty. Once you get past the stairs it gets better and a little cooler. Small stage and towers of speakers and amps. Some nights it wasn't even used, they just rocked it on the floor. You better believe you were going home with a ringing in your head, but this is what you wanted. To feel the music, to be a part of something, to make memories that you'll never forget. One good thing about music, when it hits you you feel no pain. I miss those days.
