All that David Copperfield crap

After an On Demand marathon of Heroes, I was flipping through the channels and I came across the news on PBS. To be honest I never even knew that PBS had a news program. What stopped my make-it-go-away button masher of a finger was the news that the author of one of my all time favorite books had passed away. Mr. J.D. Salinger. Although he only left 4 books behind in his career all of them were, in my opinion, great works that I have read more than a few times, and plan on reading a few more times as well. I have no idea what made me read Catcher In The Rye. I am pretty sure it was not required reading in my high school curriculum as you'll find with a lot of people. I instead had to read A Separate Peace, which I did not like at all. I think I heard about it on a movie or in a song. It's referenced around quite a bit in pop culture. Which ever way it was that I came to read the book, I am glad I did. I'm not much of a big reader, never have been and I am still trying to be, but that book and his others will be a staple of my collection until I pass on into the afterlife as well. R.I.P. J.D. Salinger, thanks for letting us know the truth.

I'm gonna get down and nerdy on yo' ass right 'bout now. Get yo' crew, grab yo' joysticks an meet me in the arcade at dawn. We gonna' battle in 8 bit. When victory comes to these skilled hands your ears will hear "You loose!" Then imma go grab my bike with the light scoop up yo' girl and take her back to my moms crib. We gonna RPG all night. Aww yea! Foo!

Oh yeah? Well I may have been defeated in your world of potions, big guns and finishers, but I have a secret warp zone of my own. It's called the highway to the heart. So while you are trying to level up on my girl, I'm going to take the pencil out of my pocket protector and write a song sooo sweet that I'll win her back. Just remember to enjoy the time you spend with her because it's going to be your final fantasy. I'm catching a star, throwing down a POW, catching her in my Kart and laying some peels. You'll be eating my dust and crying at the finish line.

Journal Entry #356,
My concentration is totally been broken off from my reading and I just can't seem to get it back on track. It was broken by the nerds at the other side of the table. They are constantly babbling about some stupid card game or which computer is better or some dumb thing. Today it's video games, or a video game competition. I tried not to catch any of it. I hate the nerd table! Where else am I supposed to be though? I'm smart, shy and on a good day I might throw in my two cents on a nerd conversation. Hell, they don't even like me. I don't care if they do or don't. It's alright though I am glad I got thrown off. I didn't even realize that Lena Holcome was in direct line of sight. I swear to God, that girl is everything I am not, and everything I want. I don't see how a quiet guy like me would ever get Lenas attention. I ran into her once in the hallway. By that I mean I RAN into her. I was walking backwards talking to Mrs. Colebrook, my Mom's best friend, and I turn around and..Bam! I crashed into her. Spilling her books and papers. I helped and she smiled at me and said thanks. Of course I was so lost in her eyes I couldn't even utter a single word except "Sorry...uh...I..." All I could do was give was a goofy smile and a point in the direction I was going. Ugh, totally blew that one, but it was totally great to look in her eyes and hear her speak to me. She probably doesn't know I exist. Woah! The nerds are getting heated in their debate. One dude thinks he's the Master of Awesome Town and talks like a gangsta all the time. I hate that kid. The other guy is pretty cool for a nerd. The less lord of the rings out of the bunch. Damn, the G'd up king of the nerds just flipped out. Slammed his chair to the ground and stormed out shouting something about RPGing all night. The other dude was sort of following him shouting as well. I think we just witnessed a nerd throw down...and Lenas looking at me. Quick eyes, look down. Pretend your doing something other than staring at her. Hmmm, I wonder if she's still looking at me. Nope, she's gone, and she's heading this way looking at me. Later.

Dear Diary,
Last weekend was so much fun. Tom threw a party on Friday night which got busted somewhere around 1pm. Whats new. I was buzzed enough though, and I am glad it was busted, I didn't really want to crash there. Waking up with God knows who or what next to me. I rode with Cassidy, Sarah, and he brother Ryan. We went to the Starlite for some food before we went home. On Saturday I went to the mall with Brent and Hillary. Brent has a Mustang, which is so damn cool. Hill is so lucky to find a sweet guy. Scott asked me out last week in third period. I was like "Dude, sorry I don't think so." I'm might hang out with the cool kids but I'm not about to date one. If I learned anything from being around these popular kids it's that they go through relationships like their pills. One after another. I'm not into that. I want something better than to one day be the headline and then next be yesterdays news. I only even know half of these people because I am friends with Sarah and Hill. When we were at the mall I saw that kid Charlie that ran into me a few months ago. I don't think he saw me. I saw him in the book store. When he first ran into me I was super pissed. These idiots around here never look where their going. He nailed me so hard it made me drop everything. As soon as I saw who it was I decided I wasn't so upset. He was cute in his nice little cardigan and Buddy Holly frames; scrambling to help clean up the mess. When he looked at me, for some reason I couldn't stop looking at him. He was looking right in my eyes, like he was seeing the most cool thing in the world. I'm sure it was just me being all girly though. He sort of stammered for a second with a funny look, pointed and walked away. I'd like to date a shy guy, I think. I dig the mysterious smart guys. The other day at lunch I noticed him trying to be sly at pretending he wasn't looking at me. Peering over a copy of Catcher In The Rye. I think he's into me, which is cool. I'm trying to send signals out to him but nothing is really happening. I know he's smart so maybe he's just a little socially awkward. Of course because he sits at the nerd table I noticed that some of them have been eying me as well. Ew. I think I am going to go talk to him next time I see him. I don't need Paul "the zit" Stigller asking me out.
The Pipettes - ABC

So this does not intertwine with any of the previous blurbs because I wrote most of this last night, but I came across this today while I was finishing up this post and I had to share it. There is a podcast called the The Opie And Anthony Show. I never have heard it before, but I know of the show only by it's name. I am pretty sure it's a big hit in the iTunes comedy podcast section. From what little I read I guess they sometimes have homeless people come in and talk to them on their show. In return give them some fresh clothes and maybe a meal. Like I said I have never listened to their show so I don't know, just going on comments people left on this video. Anyway this guy who calls himself Mustard did a cover of Creep by Radiohead and it's amazing. What a great raspy bluesy voice. If he put out a CD I would definitely buy it. as an added bonus you can click here for 3 other great songs by Daniel Mustard.
